1997 May Night Flowering Sage
Botanical Name: Salvia nemerosa ‘Mainacht’)
Striking dark violet-blue flower spikes begin in early summer and last for six weeks, and when sheared back they will reward you with another flush. May Night Sage is a tidy and upright plant, easily grown in full sun, but tolerates light shade. Growing up to 24 inches with a spread of 12 to 18 inches, this perennial tolerates poor soil and even offers some salt resistance. Attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds, it dislikes areas of winter wet.
