Botanical Name: Scabiosa columbaria ‘Butterfly Blue’

Additional Notes:

Butterfly Blue Scabiosa is a long blooming plant, its nodding lavender blue pincushion flowers start to bloom mid-June above grey/green foliage. The 2 inch flowers have a special appeal to butterflies. Growing 12 to 18 inches with a similar spread, it prefers full sun to partial shade and will tolerate most soils except wet ones, which have proven to be the kiss of death. Dead heading will keep the plant blooming until frost. Used as a speciman, group or in mass, Butterfly Blue works well as edging or in a rock garden.
