What you need to know to Plant & Grow
Ageratum is highly adaptable and easy to grow, though it has one important preference to keep in mind: it dislikes being transplanted. We recommend direct sowing or using plantable peat pots in starting indoors for best results.
- Site Selection: Adaptable to most soil types and thrives in a location with sun or partial shade.
- Sowing Indoors: To get a head start on the season, sow seeds indoors in plantable peat pots using a soil-less mix in mid-March. Leave seed uncovered on the surface of the mix.
- Germination: Maintain a temperature of 20°C for 7-10 days for germination.
- Upkeep: After germination, grow the seedlings on under lights at a cooler temperature of 15°C.
- Transplanting: Once the danger of frost has passed, transplant the seedlings, peat pot and all, directly into the garden to avoid disturbing the roots. Space the plants 15-25 cm apart.
