Carrot Danvers Seeds, Halifax Seed

One of the best varieties for storage, Danvers is a great choice for shallow soils because it grows to just 15-19cm (6-7 ½”) long. Roots have bright orange flesh that is fine-grained with a sweet, mild flavour. A reliable heirloom variety with strong tops and good disease resistance. 2.8g per packet.

Care: Tiny seeds should be sown directly in the garden beginning in early spring. Sow shallowly into loose, fertile soil. Successive plantings can be made every 2-3 weeks. Keep soil moist, especially before germination. Thin young seedlings and fertilize when tops are 7.5cm (3”) tall.

Harvest: Pull when carrots are sufficient size and colour.

Danvers first appeared in the Halifax Seed catalogue in 1906, where it was described as “growing generally with a stump root, color rich dark orange, smooth, and handsome.”
