What you need to know to Plant & Grow Bold Flowering Kale
Bold Flowering Kale thrives in cooler temperatures and provides a high-impact visual display when many other flowers have finished for the season.
- Sowing Indoors: Start seeds indoors in a soil-less mix about 6 weeks before your expected last frost. Sow seeds 12 mm deep and maintain a temperature of around 20°C for germination. Once sprouted, grow the seedlings on under lights at a cooler temperature of 14°C until they are ready to be moved outside.
- Sowing Outdoors: Sow seeds directly outdoors from mid-May to mid-June. Germination typically occurs in 10–14 days.
- Upkeep: Once the plants reach about 5 cm in height, thin the seedlings so they are approximately 60 cm apart to ensure each plant has sufficient space to develop its full, impressive size and colour.
